  1. Tell us a little bit about your academic and work background.

I began my post-secondary education at the University of Waterloo, where I completed my Honours B.Sc. in Kinesiology. During my time at the UW, I had the opportunity to take a variety of courses in biomechanics, exercise physiology, muscle physiology and musculoskeletal injury. After completing my undergraduate degree, I attended the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, where I completed my Doctorate of Chiropractic (D.C.). In addition to my degrees, I have certifications in the Functional Movement Screen, Selective Functional Movement Assessment and Functional Range Release©.

Before joining the DEPTH team, I worked as a strength and conditioning specialist at Catalyst Health in Toronto. I worked with a variety of clients with various goals, from rehabilitation to performance training. I conducted physical assessments, created and implemented training protocols, and coached clients through 1 on 1 training sessions. While at Catalyst, I had the opportunity to work with numerous hockey camps and organizations, including the Defence First Hockey School, as an off-ice strength and conditioning trainer. Before my endeavors into the strength and conditioning world, I worked as a volleyball coach within the Ontario Volleyball Association, coaching 17u and 18u boys teams with the Waterloo Tigers, Markham Stingers and Richmond Hill Thundercats.

  1. What made you interested in becoming a chiropractor?

As a kinesiology student, I understood the value of physical and mental health. After taking many courses regarding the human body, I wanted to help others achieve their potential with regards to their wellbeing. I wasn’t a big believer in pharmaceutical interventions and thought that medications were being over-prescribed for conditions that could be treated by a manual therapist. I had been to see a chiropractor for a previous sports injury, and was impressed by their knowledge, expertise and practical skills. The combination of those factors was the driving force behind my choice to pursue a career as a chiropractor.

  1. How would you describe your style of practice?

I would describe my style of practice as multi-faceted. I unite a variety of evidence-based functional assessments, manual therapy techniques and rehabilitative exercise programs to deliver a treatment plan. My assessment and treatment looks to correct the underlying dysfunction that is the root cause of the pain, not just the site of pain. Each patient is different, so each treatment plan is individualized and incorporates both passive therapy and active exercise.

  1. Outside of chiropractic’s, what other fitness and health interests do you have?

I am an avid gym enthusiast, with specific interests in functional movement, Olympic weightlifting, mobility and conditioning workouts. I use my experience as a strength and conditioning coach to program for others as well, because I love the coaching aspect and being involved in the success of others. I also try to personify that attitude towards myself. If I am going to be a staple in the education of health for others, I should be doing similar things to keep myself in good shape.

  1. What are you most excited about in becoming a part of Depth Training?

I am excited to be a part of a multi-disciplinary team that encompasses physiotherapy, massage, athletic development, mental performance, and strength and conditioning training. Working with a variety of practitioners and therapists allows a patient/client to achieve the best results, and inter-professional collaboration is the future of healthcare. Depth exemplifies this, and is a leader in health and fitness in the KW/Cambridge community. Who wouldn’t want to be involved in that?

  1. Describe your personality in 5 words or less.

Dedicated, professional, friendly, tenacious, beast.
